GROSS...hes dropping the nap and things are messy!
« on: August 30, 2015, 20:01:01 pm »
Hey ladies, I have two little boys having sleeping trouble at the moment  :'( :'( :'( :'(

T is dropping his nap, ands seems much less sensitive than Z was - I can not give any nap unless I expect him to have a 14 hr day. Its really messy and I'm not sure if I should go CT or keep going with what we are doing. :-\ He is shattered on NND though :-\

So initially he would do 13 hrs (BT before 6pm and up around 6.30am) but thats gone and he is now doing about 6-6 or even 6-5.30 which isn't enough. He stays in bed till 7. He is tired! BUT when I give a catch up nap its a bit of a mess (even 45mins). Again initially he would catch up but now it results in BT after 8pm but he time he is asleep.

Currently doing 2 NND and then a CU nap day of 45mins and BT around 7/7.15

Im really lost as to what to do next or where to go from here? He could totally go to sleep at 4.30pm but thats just too early lol

What time of day would you offer it? - And how often based on where we are at ATM? - When I am napping him its usually around 1/1.30

Audrey was younger - 26 mos - but at this stage we had to just go cold turkey. She was really really tired the first few days but she quickly adapted to no napping.

I used to take a strategic drive or walk to shops around 2pm ish. Always found DS woke up happy after 20 mins and it was just enough to get us through dinner and bath without dramatics.

My DS is 3 yrs 4 months and maybe has 1 nap 20 mins once a week now...any longer and its 14 hour day and 10 hr night.

I'd prob try a nap every 3/4 days and see how he goes, have u tried a 5.30pm BT just to see if he will tack on!? If CN still playing havoc then might be worth CT and just use the CN for emergencies x

We were doing 5.30 BT and initially they resulted in 7am WU but now he's only doing 12-12.5 hrs and then its a long full day yk?

He won't sleep anywhere other than his bed :( Even on a 4 hr drive months ago he didn't nap and have every opportunity too. Its 'no sleep in car' defiantly before were even close to his nap time right through till when he is fighting sleep hrs later ::)

So we have had 2 NND and EASY was roughly
WU 6 out of bed 7 asleep 6pm
WU 6 out of bed 7 asleep 6pm
WU 5.30 (groan) out of bed 7 ??? I was going to give a nap. Its the length I'm not sure of as before I was giving closer to 1hr but its not working we then get 10 hr nights ::)

DD2 was down to a 30min nap, and then we pretty much went cold turkey to no nap this summer.  We ended up setting bedtime at 7pm and she has been self regulating.  Some days she wakes at 6:30am to give 11.5hr night, some days she wakes at 8am to give a 13hr night, but we always keep bedtime at 7pm.  I would try pushing bedtime a bit later than 6pm, dd2 never really did well with early bedtime and shes getting better sleep, and is regulating better with 7pm bedtime.  Complete opposite of dd1 who needed 5:30pm bedtimes when she dropped her nap!

Ahhh yes Zs twin :P Until recently I could still do EBT for catching up (damn 4.5yr olds!)

So do you think I should stick with 6pm just to start with as we have moved closer to that from 5.30 and then work on getting it to 7pm, or just do it and ride out the OT.

T is really hard to work out as he doesn't show tired signs at all, he tantrums at BT when he is tired too ::)

tried a 30 min or so nap and he was pretty good about waking up. Looks like he has swollen tonsils again and also was all snotty and couldn't breathe so BT was a bit of a fail.

He was asleep by 7 though which is good overall.

Ugh sorry about the illness :( fwiw J was never a car sleeper no way ever but for a couple of weeks in the 1-0 if we headed out for 3/3.30pm she would nod off, we'd wake her after 20 mins and do normal bedtime which was 7, asleep by 7.15/30 at that time. Worked well here x

Hey ladies, thanks for checking in. Things are much better! I think the awful sleep was partially illness.

Unfortunately I can't do a car nap, by 3 I have both kids and they keep each other awake 😖

But, with a 20-30 min nap every 2-3 days, and a move into the big kids stimulating kindy room he seems more settled.

Days are either roughly
WU 6.30/7 BT 5.30/6
Or WU 6 if EW or 6.30/7 but nap day. Nap 20/30 mins around 1-2pm ( I wait for a window) BT 7

Do you think that looks ok?
