3 month old BF ever 1.5 hours?
« on: September 13, 2015, 16:15:30 pm »
LO is about to be 15 weeks and has been feeding full feeds every 1.5 hours with a small top up feeds 45 minutes later bc he shows hunger signs. I feel like he's been doing this for a week or so. Before it was every 2-2.5. Is this still a growth spurt? He did start sleeping 9-10 hours straight at night a couple of days ago. Is he stocking up on additional calories during the day to sleep through night?

He was also born with a smaller stomach if that contributes to it. Any advice or anyone else experience this?

Both mine had big big growth spurts at 3 then 4 months and it seemed like they just fed constantly. Sounds similar to what you are experiencing.   If it's any consolation after the 4 month GS they both were much quicker feeders and were much more efficient at taking a full feed going from 45 mins to about 20!!

Does this mean that it lasts throughout the month until after 4 months? I don't necessarily mind but I just wanted to know if this is normal or am I encouraging snacking?

Oh I see that's what I have heard. That it usually lasts for days. This has been going on for a week; however I just realized in my wonder weeks app that he's about to do another developmental leap so it could be that. I guess I'm concerned that I'm letting him snack and not giving full feeds. Hopefully this passes soon.

When he's feeding 45 mins later is he taking a good feed?  Mine were really sucky babies and when they started to get tired they'd root and I'd assume hunger but often it was just needing to go to sleep. I used a dummy as I ended up feeding pretty much 24/7 and it was clearly not always hunger. Some babies just like to suck!!

Hi!

So usually he will drain a breast after 45 minutes. But today he is waking up early from his nap to eat more then continue with his nap which is leading me to believe we are headed towards another leap.

Sounds like hunger. Hopefully it'll come right in a few days x
