Need some help with 2-1transition for 10mth old
« on: September 24, 2015, 06:51:01 am »
Hi
As you are prob aware from my other posts, LO has been working toward one nap for a while but I really need your help to tweek her routine.  Here's my dilemma:
For the first two nights of a one nap day and early bedtime (6pm) she sleeps well waking twice for a feed.  She then wakes at 5.30ish and I'm usually able to resettle for another one by feeding her. By the third night of having one nap a day, she starts to woke hourly for the first part of the evening because I think she's overtired.

If she has two naps a day (usually a long and short nap), she settles well to sleep but wakes more often later in the night. With an early morning wake up (that she can usually be resettled for another hour by feeding)

Here's our scenarios:
Plan A
6am wake, feed
10am - nap
12pm wake
4.30 - nap
5.30 - wake
7.30pm - bed - settled beautifully (I thought the short wake time would be too short)
10.30 - wake/feed to sleep
12.30 - wake / resettle shh npat
2.30 - wake/ feed - only offered one side and small amount.  Grizzled a little, then self settle
5.30 - wake, resettled on own for the FIRST time at this time

Plan B
6.30am - wake/feed
11.00am - sleep
1.30 - wake
6ish - sleep
10.30 - feed
3/4am - feed
5.30 - needed a feed to resettle
6.30am

I feel like he EW if prob habit rather than an indication of OT, what do you think?

Can you advice me how I should attack this situation? One or two naps (she seems to wake more at night with two naps, but she resettled herself at 5.30, perhaps a fluke though)?
How to do this?

Once I sort naps, I'll then tackle the night feeds.  Surely she should be having one by now, or none!

I wonder if you pushed that nap a little later in the day, even just to noon, if that would help ensure she's sufficiently tired?  I do recall things being pretty wonky for a solid month when we were transitioning DS1 but once he was committed to a one-nap-a-day routine, everything evened out. Are you posting on our 2-1 transition thread?  It can be a HUGE help from moms who are in the reeds with you.
Anyone want to talk about the 2-1 transition #27

Thank you.  I did post on there but it must be inactive. No response!

Last night she woke once, well actually twice including her habitual 5.30am feed to sleep ☺️😋
She went to sleep a dream too.  This was from 2 naps a day and 8pm bedtime.
5.30 - wake - how rude!
10.30 - feed and nap for 45min (out and about)
3.30 - 5.30 nap
8pm bed - went to sleep without a peep.

Hmm, I can't decide whether to push for one nap 12pm, or go for two with one being capped to about 45min
