Nap lenght inconsistency
« on: October 05, 2015, 22:54:23 pm »
Hi all! My DS afternoon naps lengths are so unpredictable it's driving me crazy!! The morning nap is fine as we wake him up after one hour so he can get the rest he needs in the afternoon. But the afternoon one is sometimes 45 min, sometimes 1 hour, 1.25, 1.5, 2 and I even got a 2.5 hour nap this week (first time ever! Probably due to his cold)

When he goes to daycare in the morning, the afternoon nap (at home) is most of the time 1-1.25 hour.
When he's home all day, most of the time it's 45 min but we do get 1.5 hour sometimes even if we do the same thing each day.

This happen while we follow the same routine ev-e-ry day! It's hard to plan ahead and bedtime is always the same time (give or take 30 min) and wake time too.

Do you have any idea why this happens?

If wake up/bedtime and the first nap are all pretty fixed times then i would say he is using the afternoon nap to self regulate a bit. I imagine on daycare days he is a bit os/ot especially if he does not sleep quite as well there.
