EASY all over the place. Guidance please
« on: October 07, 2015, 14:22:45 pm »
We are introducing solids, dropping dreamfeed and trying to match my 6.5 month old's schedule to our toddler's.
Issue 1: we have decreased the dreamfeed and added 2 oz expressed breast milk to morning, 1 oz around 11 am feed and 2 oz before bed- daughter takes it after breakfast and after nap  so instead of reducing number of feeds she has added snacks and isn't hungry after AM nap

Issue 2: I would like to just BF but with adding the DF milk into the day, I'm doing it with bottles. When will I be able to stop doing the extra bottles?

E: 7AM, ok to good feed. It's gotten better as DF is earlier and less milk, still distracted by brother
A, solids and water 830AM
E:2 oz of EBM or nursing after solids and water
A: 5 minutes
S: 9:30/10-10:30/11
E:11 not that hungry, quick nurse or we skip to go get brother
A: have to go get big brother from school
E: 11:40/12  1 oz EBM,maybe nurse if skipped at 11. 12:30 solids and water
S: 1/1:30- 2
E: 2PM- big milk feed
A
S: 430-5 catnap
E: 5PM 8oz EBM- ok with this bottle
A,
E: little bit of finger foods at dinner table with family and water
A bath time, nurse then offer 2/3oz EBM
S: 745/8PM
DF: 930/945 2-3 oz

Wow, that all sounds very complicated! Are you pumping each time you offer a bottle? Otherwise your supply will suffer.

You can stop and just offer the bF is that is what you prefer. Your baby will take what she needs from the breast so you don't need to worry bout adding in the ounces from the dropped DF.

The A times are very short and probably need a push so you can get rid of the third nap and get two longer naps in. She might be hungrier if the first nap was later and longer.
