Just turned 1. Do I need to supplement breast milk with cows?
« on: November 24, 2015, 20:09:58 pm »
Hi
LO just turned one.  She still has 4-6 breast feeds a day.  Sometimes the feed mid morning and arvo are more like snacks (sometimes they are full feeds).  She doesn't always ask for the feeds, but I offer and she happily accepts.  Anyway, she LOVES her food too.  Given that she still has about 3-4 solid breastfeeds a day, should I be offering cows milk at other times? Does she need it?
Thanks

Nope she doesn't need to drink cows milk as an alternative to BM. But good to include dairy in her diet for calcium etcetera.

I agree. I wonder if OP means in addition to BM though?  If so the answer is again no, she's getting plenty of BM so no need for any other milk.  Although fine to use cows milk and dairy foods in cooking if that's what you would be cooking anyway for the family meals.
