18m sleep regression and illness
« on: December 17, 2015, 20:00:13 pm »
Ds hit 18m on the 8th and he's been having sleep Iissues since maybe last week maybe the week before. He used to nurse for anywhere from 30 seconds to 15 minutes and then I could put him in his crib awake and he would settle. Now he cries almost every night when we go in his room for bt. He'salso had this really bad crud, really wet cough and low grade temp. Doctor said it's just going around and nothing to do for it. So he wants to snuggle and rock when he goes to bed. Is this OK to entertain while he's sick or is it making the 18m regression worse??? Not sure what to do here...

If he is sick I would do whatever it takes for him to feel comfy at bedtime/naptime and worry about the fallout after. I have found that it is usually fairly easy to get back on track if they were already an independent sleeper before the illness/regression etc.

Ok good to hear. Last night he had a MELTDOWN like I have never seen from him before and he settled down and fell asleep when I was rocking him, lights on, DD running around at like 545 so I aid him down and he woke up a few times but I think hes just so congested and his throat is sore. Going to try a humidifier tonight to see if that helps. I don't mind the extra snuggles that's for sure!!!!!!
