So he went down easily with 5 minutes of grizzling. Woke at 30 mins as usual though and I couldn't resettle. I can see this happening everyday!

Just making noises and moaning so I left him until he started to get upset then tried to resettle. After 30 mins he dropped back off but only for 10 mins so then I got him up.

Also, the last 2 days he has fallen asleep in the pushchair on the school run. Both days it was exactly 1hr30 after morning wake up. He has then slept for 1hr 45 without any resettling needed. Does that mean his A time is 1hr30 and I have been massively over shooting at 2hr?! He was on 1hr30 a couple of months ago!

Sorry for all the posts! So I put him down in his cot at 12.15 which was 1hr30 A time, just to see what happened. He settled at 12.25. He didn't wake at 30 min mark as usual, but he did at 45 min. I settled him back down, it took 15 mins and then he slept another 1hr15 before I had to wake him for school run. So another shortish A time led to a good nap.

Yay for good naps! Both of my LOs like a short first A time. It's only now at just over 1 yo that DS needs more than 2.5h for that first A so that A time may work well for a while.

It sounds like he may be starting to catch up on some lost sleep - both of mine also shortened their As if they'd had a few days with short naps. I'd try the short A times again and see what happens.

Just to update you, we've had somesome good naps and some not so good, to be expected though! I am happy with how it is going. Although a bit scared that he might be having too long today, 2x2hrs so far. Is that OK? Yesterday was a really bad bad day for sleep for a few different reasons. We had some major OT going on. But he slept right though the night until 5am which was great! Fed him, and then he barely went back to sleep which was not great as we like to start at 7am. So today I am worrying that he won't sleep well again tonight as he has had double the sleep he had yesterday! Also do not want a 5.30 start to the day.

With DS I found that a good day of long catch-up naps is almost always helpful. With DD, I would worry too much and wake her which I think interfered with her trying to catch up on lost sleep and caused problems. At his age 2x2hrs is still within the average range so I wouldn't worry.

That's good! Now you know a day of big, catch-up naps is ok.
