Mine quite liked joining in with making mini muffins if he could use the weighing scales although of course it took longer then. He would also play with his own play kitchen or a few kitchen pans/tools for a while to let me get it done. Doesn't take too long for muffins really and a batch can be frozen so seems to last a while if it's just a couple being eaten each day.

The other thing you could do is make some pasta and toss it in a bit of oil to keep in the fridge overnight so one cooking time but for two days worth, that's quite quick and LO will get a change from the bread.

I say all this but I only have one child, so I've never tried to fit it all in with two!

I made these a bit more baby-friendly by using cooked apple instead of the raw one, and dates instead of the raisins. I whizzed them up, added the oats and milk and soaked overnight. No need to drain in the morning.

Oh, and I used ground almonds instead of the sunflower seeds and chia. Seemed to work.

I baked the mixture in loaf tins and cut it into strips. Baby enjoyed it but managed to crumble a lot of it.

May be completely irrelevant for you, but my DS would find too much rice constipating, so I started out trying to limit it with DD, however it turned out that wheat has that effect on her (we don't need to avoid it completely any more, just limit it - actually when first weaning we also had to avoid oats), but rice has been absolutely fine for her, and rice cakes are pretty handy ;) funny how they're so different, isn't it?
