Can a 4m old baby takes only 2naps?
« on: January 22, 2016, 02:44:30 am »
Hello there
My LO turned 4m a week ago and I noticed that he suddenly has increased his A time to 3h. I tried to put him in his crib earlier even when he's still playing thinking that he maybe just doesn't show clear sleep cues. But he really fights sleeping and putting him to nap has become hard since then. I have been thinking to let him only take 2 naps since his late cat nap been pushed to 6:30 which is too late if I want his bedtime to be at 8 pm.
So is 2naps enough for a 4m baby?

I actually tried it once to let him take only 2naps,and that actually worked fine and didn't disturb his night sleep. But I was just wondering if I really should consider 2 naps instead of 3.

How long are the naps he is taking? How's his behaviour/demeanour the rest of the day? Night sleep ok?

BW is all about listening to what LO needs. A 4mo baby can take 2 naps - it is unusual, perhaps but not necessarily inappropriate. Can you write out your day in EASY format?

He takes two two-hour naps. He doesn't seem cranky or grumpy the rest of the day. He sometimes seems to have to problem if I kept him awake for 4h! And yes he sleeps fine at night. This is what really makes me confusing if we really need to transfer to two naps. I might make them longer like 2.5 for each.

His day was
E: 8am
S: 10
E:12
S: 2
E: 3:30
S: 5:30
E: 6:15
S: 8
DF: 10 or 11

He doesn't do cat naps anymore. And he doesn't sleep at the same time these days since he stays 2.5 to 3 hours.

Sorry, the day above has 2 x 2hr naps and a 45min catnap - is that what happened? Seem pretty typical of 4mo child to me.
