Settling for naps
« on: January 08, 2016, 20:43:10 pm »
Hi, goodness, its difficult when both kids still sleep duing the day i guess. Well we have more less sorted thentoddler routine or at least giving it a good try. But im a little stuck with Maks and his routine and more so his A times and sleeping on his own not in the ergo.
So Maks is going to be 6 months on the 19 jan. He is a laid back baby really, happy to play around during the day, likes interacting and not very obvious with sleepy signs....
So i have started trying to settle him on our bed for his naps and avoiding the ergo.
He has a dummy which i would love to get rid of, i know that getting the A times right will help avoid some of the crying.
So i have settled him for his naps on our bed today and the day went like this

7.20wu
10.06-10.36 (woke up patted for a couple of minutes and went back to sleep) woke at 11.40
2.55-4.05
We tried Bt at 7 it didnt go down well
 He only settled at 8

And then woke 40 minutes later...

I guess figuring out the daily routine and avoding the early wakings. As from about 5/6 i have to pat/pat/pat to get him off to sleep.
Yesterday i tried settling him without dummy, it was terrible.

8.20wu
11.53nap-2.20
5.10nap-5.45
8.40Bt

And he was up at 6 making a load of noises, and i have to pat literally until he wakes again around 8.....

You know that some kiddos would rather wake near 6 no matter what time they went to sleep?

In terms of routine, can you consider switching naps so the shorter is in the morning? Fo low sleep needs kids and some average ones to, long morning nap can end with a problematic EWU.

I did try that, not planned, but when he falls asleep in the car early nothing i can do. It doenst change the night wakings or the early morning nightmare. Could the awake time during the day and before bt affect the early mornings?

Up at 7.30today....

At that age, for sure. Re short morning nap, I would try this schedule for at least 3-4 days if not a week to see a difference.
