Early WU and NWs
« on: January 22, 2016, 07:11:06 am »
Hello
I have a 7mo, and I thought we were getting there but we are back to square one after a bout of chicken pox, well I don't know if that's what did it.
Before we were sth like
WU 7am
Nap 10:30 ish-11:30ish
Cat nap 1:30
Nap 3/3:30-5:30-6
BT 8/8:15
We also dropped the nigh feed and things seemed OK.

Now we have something along the likes of

WU 5/5:30am
CN 6:30 for about 30/45 mins
Nap 10:30-11:30ish, sometimes until 12 then we go straight to
Nap 3pm-4:30/5pm
BT 8
NWs can be at 2/3am and can last up to an hour. It's impossible to resettle after a EW.

This is more or less as its a bit touch and go.
He is also a terrible eater, he is supposed to be on solids for two meals per day and I just can't get him to eat a thing. He also chants a lot, aaaaaah aaaaaah, for hours. I really don't think he is ill at the mo.
Is there anything I am doing wrong? We are so so exhausted now  :'(
Thanks.

Hi there! I suspect your LO is ready for a boost in A time and 2 naps a day The endless chanting and long NW sound like too much day sleep and not enough A time. How about something like this?
Say he wakes at 6:30
Nap 9:30 ( no more than 2 hours)
11:30 Awake
2:30 Nap, I wouldn't let this one go beyond 1.5 hours in teh interest of a decent BT.
7: BT.
You may want to work towards this gradally, but I surely wouldn't offer the early AM CN as that can be incentive for LO to wake early, knowing he can go back out again soon and he tacks that on to his night sleep. Give this new routine time to settle in ( a week or so) before readjusting and let me know if you have any more questions! :)

Thank you for your reply  :)

I was actually aiming for 2.5 As but it was working out more like 3 hours as he was fighting sleep. I will aim directly for three now.
Can I apply the same routine depending on what time he wakes up for now? Ideally I'd like a 7:30am WU to fit with the rest of the schedules. Also he seems to wake up at different times at the moment?
Many thanks.

Ps, so ideally could I have
WU 7:30
S 10:30
S 15:30/17:00
BT 20:00?

Yes, totally adjustable based on when LO is up for the day. I would work for towards ( can be done gradually) a 3 hour A, especially if you are getting some resistance.  Keep us posted!
