4 week old waking for full 3 hour cycle in night
« on: January 27, 2016, 14:37:03 pm »
I am trying to implement the EASY schedule. During the day he is fine on a 3 hour schedule but at night he will not settle for at least 1 3 hour cycle if not longer

He cries, falls asleep, put him down then repeats the crying.

This then messes up his feed times.

Any tips??

Hi there and welcome!  Your baby is still so incredibly young, it sounds like he's confusing his days and nights and that is very normal.  What I would recommend is try to get your LO out in the fresh air and sunshine during A times if you can, that will help the natural circadian rhythm kick in.  Other than that, especially when he's so young, you just need to ride it out.  At this point you really can't ask much of your LO as he's still adjusting to being on the outside.  Whereas when he was inside you, it was always dark and he slept all the time.  Now it's dark and light and it doesn't always match up with when he's tired.  C'est la vie with a newborn.
Remember as well, EASY is not about following the clock but keeping the order.  When he wakes crying, always feed first.  His tummy is only about the size of a chickpea, it won't take long for him to be hungry after eating.
