Inconsistent naps
« on: February 07, 2016, 19:06:10 pm »
I wonder if someone could share some experience, views on inconsistent napping. My lo can nap either 2 or 3 times a day. Length varies between 30min and 2hrs! I always put him for a nap at the same time since waking so don't really know why the length varies so much...He always goes to sleep at the same time at night and wakes at the same time. He is nearly 8 months. What do you think is happening?
Thanks.

I have moved you to Naps board honey as your question is about napping:).

Can you please post your routine?

7am wake up
9.30 nap and thereafter every 2.5HR (hard to post a routine as it varies so much)
6.30 bed time routine and bed

Any idea?

Naps are generally undertired honey as 2.5h is really a short A for a 8mo.
To get a longer nap you either need to increase A times or cut one nap to make it less restorative and with keeping the same A after a shorter nap you would get a longer later nap. So sample routines could be:
7am wakeup
9:40 nap for 20min
12:30 nap for up to 2h
no nap till 7pm bedtime

Or

7am wakeup
Nap at least at 10am
Nap at 2/3pm depending on the length of the first one.
