How to stop night snacking
« on: February 13, 2016, 17:08:06 pm »
Hi,

My almost 8 weeks old is waking at night when do to eat but he doesn't eat when put on the breast, he just sucks a little bit and then is impossible to arouse him to continue eating... I put him back to sleep but then he is waking 1-1.5 later to snack again... I don't know what to do.

Last night tried to feed him with a bottle but the same happened 😕
He eats every 3 hrs during the day.

Thanks for your help wonderful moms!

A very sleep deprived mom :-\

What about a diaper change prior to the night feeds?

That is frustrating! What about feeding more often in the day? (Is the 3 hr feeding his timing or are you having to wake from naps to stick to that?)

He actually eats every 3.5 hrs  or so ... I never wake him up from naps ( he is not a good napper)...

I am trying so hard that I almost dread feeding time  :(

He did better the past few nights, we will see how it progress

I hope the progress continues. If not I'd look at how he goes to sleep in the day. I'm wondering if he just needs a little help getting back to sleep perhaps? Does he take a soother? Seems like he's waking every time he needs to do that second sleep transition so could it be discomfort like reflux or wind etc.?

Sorry I took so long to reply. He does have a little of reflux and is extremely gassy.

It might be a combination of lack of hunger and discomfort I guess. He doesn't like the pacifier, I keep trying but he is soothing himself sucking his hand

My days are so long.... I hope everything improves when he turns 3 months
