9 month old...massively inconsistent...help!
« on: February 22, 2016, 15:15:19 pm »
My 9 month old son has never been a great sleeper, he was very much a Velcro baby at first but using baby whisperer techniques and advice from this forum he now goes down awake for naps and naps ok usually but night times are hellish, occasionally he will sleep from 7-4 usually he wakens at 11 and 5 but other nights, like last night, he wakens and then just won't settle
Again. I have a 4 year old son who I try not to disturb at night. Should I still be breastfeeding during the night? Any help/ advice, would be amazing!! I need sleep :(

Might be teeth, might be time to up daytime calories. What's his food/milk intake like throughout the daytime?

Hi, you might need a tweak to our daytime routine now - can you post your EASY?

Or as Deb says it could be the dreaded teeth  :P

So our routine just now is breast milk at 5-6am,back to sleep for a wee bit,  breakfast at 7-7.30(Weetabix, milk, fruit and water) nap 3 hours from when he woke, usually 9.30-10, sometimes for 45mins sometimes an hour and a half, snack when he gets up (water, rice cakes, blueberries for example), activity time, lunch at 12-12.30 (usually pot
Of spag Bol or Something else that I've frozen and a couple
Of yoghurts, play for a bit longer, nap usually 2ish, again 45-1hr 30. Then snack and water when he wakes, similar to above, then tea at 4.30-5, similar to
Lunch but usually with added finger foods
Such as brocolli. Bath at 5.30-6. 7 Oz formula bottle
At 6.30-7 then bed. He nearly always falls asleep having this bottle so doesn't go
To bed awake although he goes down for naps awake
All the time.

This may sound counterintuitive, but how much fat is he getting in the diet? Are the yogurts full-fat or lowfat? Any meat or other protein? Things like fruit/veg and rice cakes aren't very filling in the long-term.

I'd go full-fat yogurt/cheese, if giving chicken make sure dark meat over white (more fat). Avocadoes are another good early food that's high in good fats.
