4 month trouble!
« on: February 26, 2016, 20:33:47 pm »
Hello! So... my almost 4.5 month old is in a sleeping rut! She had been sleeping through the night.. then we went to stop swaddling, took her a few days but she was ok and slept good. Now she is at it again! Waking in the night, sleeping bad at almost every nap. I am watching her wake time like a hawk, and she seems to go down well but then wakes early crying screaming and just seems so off. I dont know could it be teeth? I dont see any but I dont know what to do. Feeling exhausted.

So let's start from the scratch after swaddle removal. Can you please post your EASY routine?
Thanks!

I am not quite sure if I get it right. You have 1h A time and you expect 2h nap?

:) So maybe that's the problem Honey. Have you seen the average A times for babies at 4mo? They go towards 2h:). I am not saying that your baby is ready for that as probably she is a high sleep needs (HSN) baby if she was doing that routine until almost now, but maybe increasing A times slightly by 15min would help?

What do yo think:)?

today was very off as I had several school pick ups and drop offs and her naps are always a bit choppy on these days.. i followed her sleep cues even though shed been up longer than normal, and seemed ok then I put her down when she seemed tired (definitely up over an hour) and she just started crying 45 minutes in. It might be the 45 minute intruder but I have a feeling she will just cry and cry .. feeling so discouraged and TIRED

Oh Honey I am so sorry you are so discouraged. It will be better. A times should be increased slowly and still you need time for her to settle on new routine. It will be better!

Don't know if this is helpful, but I thought I'd share my nearly 4mo's day.

A - 2.5hrs
S - 45mins to 1.5hrs, depending on how well he's sleeping that day
A - 2.5hrs
S - 45mins to 1.5hr
A - 2.5hrs
Catnap, if I can get him to take it, bed roughly an hour later. He's up for two feeds on a good night, four on a tough one. I think he's totally normal for a breastfed baby.

At this age it's about coping with lack of sleep, how are you doing with that?

praying this ends soon, its been so horrible..

She had been sleeping through the night (10pm when I would dream feed her until 7am) now she keeps waking at around 5 ish whether I feed her at 10 or not. Today I didnt feed her i took her in my room and let her be in our bed, she slept until I woke her up at 7am...

I followed  cues and time and wnet to put her down after an 1.15-1.30 awake time and she just talked. so i went in there and she was smiley, so i brought her out and she was happy as can  be so let her play a bit. then at 145, she seemed a bit tired so i brought her in her room and she wouldnt let me cuddle just cried and fussed so I put her in her crib and she has been crying now for a bit. Im trying so hard here!

She might just need some help to go off to sleep. What do you do to help her?

After the first am nap she woke sooner than normal but would have been about 3.5 hours since last I fed her... I fed her and at an hour, she kept rubbing her eyes and they looked so tired.. so i put her down she fell asleep or so it seemed quick so i put her in her bed, she woke up and has been awake in their ever since, been about an hour of crying a bit moving around etc.. I am a loss of words for her schedule or what she needs, and feel so out of sorts. Please some help!

Don't discourage yourself honey! It will take time until LO will have the skill to cope with new schedule. Just be patient and slowly increase A times, riding out ot if needed!

I've been doing 2 hours and it's not going well, hit or miss. Also she wakes at 5 am whether I dream feed her or not.. She has slept through the night until she hit this weird 4 month sleep cycle. I think her body wakes then for some reason and she can't get back to sleep.. any advice? Is 2 hours too long?
