3.5 Month Old NW
« on: April 07, 2016, 18:36:21 pm »
We are in the process of switching our 3.5 month old to a 4 hour routine. He is doing great during the day for the most part (he sometimes needs to go down early) but is taking (2) 2 hour naps and (1) 1 hour catnap. Nights have become a huge challenge though. Last night he woke 3 times (1:37, 4:35, and 5:39). He slept through the night most nights from 8 weeks until now.

I am trying to figure out if we need to tweak his daytime schedule, help him learn to fall asleep at night, or if he is having a growth spurt. I nurse him to sleep anytime he wakes at night. He ate for 8-10 minutes before falling back to sleep each time he woke last night. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Here is his EASY:

Wake & Eat - 7:45
Nap - 8:45 - 11:15
Eat - 11:45
Nap - 1:15 - 3:15
Eat - 3:45
Nap - 4:30 - 5:30
Eat - 5:30
Feed & Bed - 7:30
DF - 10:30

Your routine looks really good. Nights often go a little wonky around that age. it's a developmental thing as they start sorting out sleep cycles at night so many LOs start waking a bit more frequently. It often passes on his own. If 8-10 minutes is a good feed for him than he may have also be a bit hungry and as you said, likely having a growth spurt. Right now, I would carry on as you are and see if it gets better.
