1 year old EW
« on: June 05, 2016, 19:52:45 pm »
After a rough start my 12 month old now sleeps through most nights but the EW are taking a toll. My other two children are being woken by her and 5am is far too early for them.
I've tried lots of things to get her back to sleep. It doesn't matter if she's had one nap or two(short car naps) or if she goes to bed at 5pm or 8pm. She will be up for the day(in the pitch dark) between 445am and 545am.
She does have low sleep needs and has a shocking night if her A time to bed is short. We get multiple 2 hour NW and still an EW.

This is a good day for us:

WU-5
E-530(BF)
E-7
E-930(snack)
A-5-10
S-10-12
E-1
E-4
E-5(BF)
S-530

Wow that looks like a lot of eating. She won't have a full sleep if she doesn't have a snack before her nap. I'm not so worried about myself getting up early(I'll take the sleeping through after the 1-2 hourly night wakes for 6 months) but my two older children(4 and 2 years old) are suffering.

Hi I sympathise as my DS1 was always an EW, I think looking at your day your need to move that nap later, it's not a bad day/night it's just at the wrong time if you get what I mean.

How does she handle OT could you push it in 30 min increments or would she need a smaller increase?
My DS on a 2 hour nap would need a 13 hour day.

Thank you Zoe.
I'll try to increase her first A time. Would you stay with a 2 hour nap?

Yes at that age I would, if nap is short I'd try a CN of 20 mins around 3pm ish and then push BT a little later x

Little one was up at 445am today and is still awake at 1050. She hasn't yawned or rubbed her eyes, nothing. I think I'll put her to bed at 11, even if she's not looking tired I'm sure she is.
My 2 year old sleeps more than my 1 year old.
If she sleeps 11-1pm what time should I do bedtime? 445-7pm feels like a long day for her.

Is she very prone to OT? How you usually handle daylight savings?

Well she was awake at 430am today. I fed her and hopped into bed with her and I managed to get her back to sleep until 6.
This was our day yesterday:
WU-445
Nap-11-1
BT-630

Maybe I should have stretched her out until 7pm bedtime. When she's overtired she usually has many NW and then EW. Now that she did get up at 6 though it's going to bed quite a late bedtime. The other kids are asleep by 630 at the latest. The early waking has become a habit for them too because of DD1 waking them.

Wow she is crabby today. I had to put her down for a nap at 10 because she was so whiny and nothing I did helped. Woke her at 1pm as I was concerned that I made her overtired from yesterday.

What bedtime should I do tonight? I'm thinking around 6/630?

Up at 430 again. It's getting earlier and earlier!
I APOP to get her back to sleep until 7am. Breastfed her and got into bed with her. I don't want this to become a bad habit though.
Could she be OT at bedtime?
What time should she nap today? If I do the 6 hours she usually does then she won't be napping until 1pm when I've got kinder pickup for DS.
Sigh, it's never "EASY" is it!

Oh dear at least you got her back to sleep, to be honest I'd apop to get a decent WU too, 4.30 is no time to start the day.

Could you try a little CN say 10am for 20 mins then would that her you past when you need to collect other LO?

So this ended up being our day. Not great!

430-BF back to sleep
7-E
9-snack
11-1215-S
1215-E
2-snack & milk
430-E
5-BF
646-BT

Tried BT from 1715-1815, then had a break to put my son to bed. Took another 15 minutes to get her to sleep, lots of screaming.

No teeth coming as far as I can tell. She's been walking for about a week. She has been having lots of dirty nappies but doesn't seem to have discomfort and it's normal looking. Here's today so far:

515-WU and breastfeed(not able to get her back to sleep with APOP)
7-E
930-snack
1130-?S

She wants crazy long A times and it just won't fit into one day. I'll wake her at 1pm and try for a 6pm bedtime.
