should and how do I change bedtime?
« on: July 28, 2016, 07:19:09 am »
Hi I just wondered what time people's 10week olds went to bed? Our little one has ended up having bedtime of around 6/6.30 and if we leave it any later she gets grouchy and over tired! Only thing is going to bed then she does really well we do dream feed around 10 and then she generally goes till 3/4am and then up anywhere between 6 and 7 in morning  but I'm thinking as its a long sleep stretch it would be great if it could start later as she would almost be sleeping through the night then. Any one have any experience or tips on how to gradually make bed time later or will this just happen as she gets older? Thanks

Sounds perfect - a 12hr night is what you should be aiming for and she's doing great :) FWIW, if you were to reduce her night length, you could end up with a lot more wakings within the first few hours after bedtime from overtiredness. BT will get later as she gets older (though FWIW, my 5yo still goes to bed at 6:30 for best night sleep).

Thanks for the advise that's really helpful to know. I wasn't sure if making it later would mean it would help her sleep through but I guess as she drinks more at a time that feed in the night will just phase out hopefully. Thanks again x

Sleeping through is as much developmental as food-related. It'll phase out eventually :)

Also just to say at this age the definition of sleeping through is only a 5-6 hour stretch - exactly what she is doing :D You are doing great x
