Getting the timings right
« on: August 05, 2016, 08:22:12 am »
Hello

My almost 9 month old has finally started sleeping reasonably well at night and napping....if I manage to get the timings right. She has been napping for 1.5 hours in the morning and the same in the afternoon but then seems to struggle to get off to sleep in the evenings and seems very wide awake. She always used to feed to sleep but she doesn't want much milk in the evening after her tea. If she's tired I can put her in the cot and she will go to sleep by herself but the last 2 nights she's screamed and when I go to her she seems so awake. I get her back out and she happily looks at some books for a while. Our EASY is below

7am: Wake up. BF
7-8am: Activity.
8am: Solid breakfast.
8.15-9.00: Activity.
9.00-10.30: Nap (She is usually rubbing her eyes from about 8 and goes to sleep very easily at 9 even if she has slept through the night!!!)
10.30: BF
10.30-12.00: Activity
12.00: Solid Lunch
12.15-1.30: Activity
1.30-3.00: Nap
3.00: BF
3.00-5.00: Activity
5.00: Solid Tea
6.30: Bed

Should we be looking at shortening her morning nap?

Hi!

It does sound like the beginning of the 2-1, this may help if you haven't read.

From 2 to 1 nap transition (10-12m and older)

It's entirely up to you whether you shorten the first or the 2nd nap but the fact it's BT that she's resisting I would probably start capping the afternoon nap. Maybe try reducing by 15mins and see how you go.
