16 weeks and weaning off nursing to sleep
« on: August 07, 2016, 17:29:30 pm »
Hi!
My DS2 has just turned 16 weeks, he is above average size at 18.7 pounds with macrosomia.
I have been 80% of the time nursing to sleep and i'm trying to reduce this to 0% and need some tips/to know i'm doing the right thing.

I've been using shh pat and the 4Ss actually since birth but found he really hates going down without the breast first (perfectly natural i know!).
So i've been detaching myself as soon as possible and turning him on his side with a hand on his back and shhing if he notices i've disappeared (which seems to really soothe him) and use a paci - he doesn't always accept this.

Is this the best way? To slowly reduce? If i don't nurse him a little he doesn't seem to get tired if i'm just holding him and shhing. His A time atm is about 1h 40.

Sound like you are doing great - and using something like Pantley's Gentle Removal Plan: PANTLEY'S GENTLE REMOVAL PLAN

It's not a BW method but fits very nicely with the philosophy :)
