I think slapping her own bum to settle is the funniest thing I have ever heard  ;D  ;D  ;D

I just wanted to chime in ... DD just turned 2 at the end of June and we went through the same thing. So I think it is developmental. WE got back to normal in about 5-6 weeks which seemed like an eternity to me though  ::)

I know she's a wee cheeky chops. Well what a good night we had. She woke 3 times. The first she self settled, the second I went in popped a wee blanket over her and said good night bsby mummy will come back in a min to check on you and left. Well she went straight back to sleep.  Then she woke again about 6 and self settled again.  So so proud of my girl  ;D

Disaster.  No nap at all at nursery today so she was way ot.ended up patting her bum for 10 mins then she was asleep
She just seemed way too wired to get herself to sleep tonight. Hopefully she'll crash and sttn but usually OT for us is lots of NW's

Typical after such a good start.  No nursery for 2 days though then nursery Friday and off another 2 so that's a decent run at it.

Hi Suzanna, Its good to hear we are not the only ones going through this with a 2 year old, hopefully we will come out the other end soon.

Hi honey, hope everything is ok with scottishmummy?

Its not going great, last night she went o bed ok with a just a cry for 2 mins then self settled but then she had NW's at 22:30, 00:25, 03:15, 5:20

The first couple she settled with just a little tuck in and reassurance but the next she was screaming and grabbing on to me like crazy. I ended up back  the floor just so I could get some rest. I'm really not sure if she is OT or if something else is at play here?

You know - with my son OT started playing much greater role in his sleep when he was older than when he was younger. So with your dd2 such a HSN I would think that one NND which she had couple of days ago could make her very tired. My son is much more ASN and he still didn't have any NND and is rather devasted after 30min nap:). And he is 2.5y!

So in addition to sleep training I would think that she may need as much occasions to catch up as possible. So EBT when you can or SEBT. Can you talk to the nursery about the nap? Maybe there is something that do wrongly? I remember jessmum saying that her DS was even rocked to sleep on naps but thanks to that he did nice long naps in the nursery. Maybe when you DD wakes after 1-1.5h the nursery ladies think it is ok and most of the children would be fine - but she need some help with going back for another 45-60min? Wdyt? Maybe you can bring some lovey or white noise for her to sleep better? Do they have proper condition for sleeping toddlers there? To give you an example - my DS around 10-11mo was put to sleep at 12am as he wasn't crying - so the ladies decided to tuck in all other crying and tired children and than DS. But when they put him at 12 he was devasted and slept short of course. After some talking I just asked if they can put him down earlier as he was one of the youngest in the group no matter if he seems tired or not - and his sleep became much better. Or I couldn't understand why he slept poorly on his nap around 1pm when he was 7mo and it occurred that nobody was already asleep then so after 45min children just woke him.

thanks, its a bit hit and miss. Last night she went down in 5 mins (shes taken to throwing her rabbit at me as i wlak out the door). She she shouts on me a couple of times then goes to sleep.

but she woke 1hr later, just needed tucked in then woke again at 3, needs more settling this time but i guess we are pregressing from hours on the floor.

At nursery they will only really rock them to sleep in the baby room. But i do think she does miss her window as she is so nosy making sure evreyone else goes to sleep before she sleeps.

I know, that's kind of what we are dealing with here, At least 2 every night but quite often 4.

Yesterday was a nursery day she did

WU 7:00
Nap 12:40 - 14:00 (they think)
BT 19:10 (was trying for 18:50 but it took 20 mins for her to get to sleep)

Any chance she is cutting her 2 year molars? A lot of NW's also can mean discomfort  ;)

Today was nursery
WU 6:15
Nap 12:30 - 13:10
BT I'm trying early 17:50
