7 month old naps advice
« on: August 22, 2016, 23:25:32 pm »
Hi all I'm new here been following for a while and would really like some advice on my little ones day and if it sounds ok.
He's 7 1/2 months and waking at like 5am - 5.30am he's always gone to bed between 6-7pm.

He normally has a bottle at this time and goes back to sleep till 7.30- 8.30am
He's eating at all three meal times & has 3 bottles of 8oz a day

This was yday

5.30am - 8oz milk
8.30am - woke up
8.45am - Breakfast (fruit pot)
10.30am - lay in bed fell asleep
1.30pm - woke up & 8oz
2.30pm- Lunch
5pm - cheesy pasta & yogurt.
6pm - Bath & 8oz - be go to sleep.

He normally is only awake 2 hours before he's tired again, but he doesn't show signs of being tired in the afternoon till like 5pm which is when he has his dinner & prep for bed. Im wondering whether I need to shorten his earlier nap & put him down in the afternoon for a nap? because at the moment its just like he's getting one nap in the day, or do i count his going back to sleep at 5.30 - 8.30/9 as a nap?

any advice i will be greatful  :) :)

Hi hun, when he wakes to eat at 530 does he go right back to sleep or is he up for 30min or so and then falls back asleep? Also I just want to make sure that nap at 1030 is 3hrs? And then he's up until bedtime so his second A time is 4.5hrs?

yeah he goes back to sleep mostly straight away if he wakes at 5.30am. yep his 10.30 nap usually is between 2.30hr - 3hrs. So his second activity time is 4.5hrs and obviously he gets tired just before dinner but he wants to go to bed by 18.00pm.

however last night he went to bed at 18.00pm he woke at 01.30 had 4oz then woke at 06.30 and had 8oz bottle but didn't back to sleep and wanted to get up. so he had breakfast at 8.00 & ive just put him down for a nap now at 09.30, seems to be fighting it though.

I think at 7 months then his First A time needs to be pushed out a bit? The average A time for a 7 month old is 2hrs 45 min -3hrs.
Sample EASY Routines from 0 - 13mths+

From what I"m seeing it's only 2hrs? I would slowly push that A time out. Also I would consider capping that first nap at 2hrs doing a full A time of 2hrs 45 min to get a second nap.  Many lo's between 7 and 8 month drop from 3 to 2 naps so that's fine. But as for last night a BT of 6 and wake up of 630 is actually great. But he's also not used to a 3hr A time in the Morning so he may have been a little OT at that point.
