How to deal with one week old evening 10min catnaps
« on: August 28, 2016, 01:17:42 am »
Hi
I usually don't worry too much about EASY in the early days, but this little might has got me baffled.
I know newborns are notoriously unsettled in the evenings, but this guy is doing my head in already.  Firstly, it's driving me crazy, and secondly I'm worried about accidental parenting because I'm either having to rock him or feed him to sleep, especially in the feral evenings.

All day he naps well.  If he wakes early from a nap, I can usually resettle in the cot, but in the evenings I can't.  From 5pm-11pm, he feeds often which I'm fine with, but will only ever nap for about 10mins at a time.  By 11pm, I'm so exhausted, I bring him to bed with me and feed him to sleep and cosleep for a while to get him to sleep deeper and longer.

Have you got any suggestions on making our evenings less painful? Go with it?  fight it? I'm exhausted and frustrated!

Ugh! He woke at 3 am for his feed.  I then put him to bed sound asleep, completely melted into the mattress...then, BAM awake around 10min mark, crying and unsettled until I fed him. This has got to stop!

I am wondering about any discomfort hun, gas? Does he burp well? My son was always so unsettled in the evening and he had such belly problems with gas.  I changed his bottles and used Oval (gas drops) and it helped.

Ok. I'll put some more focus on burping.  He doesn't burp often.

Yes I would try to get a good burp out of him after each feed, that air might just be sitting in there making him uncomfortable and unable to settle.
