My boys are 22 months. So around 18 months we transitioned our twins to toddler beds. Before that they were really good to sleep on their own. We said prayers, sang a few songs, then left them to jabber at each other. We stayed in their room until they fell asleep after we transitioned because they would climb out of their beds and wake the other twin up. Well... now it seems they have grown to NEED us to be in the room when they fall asleep. Twin A will scream until we come back in (we don't hold him, just sit in the rocking chair) and twin B will climb out of his bed as soon as the door is closed and either lie in front of the door or climb into his brother's bed and wake him up. I'm at a loss of what to do. And it takes like an hour if sitting there in their room before they are asleep enough for us to leave. If they don't get their normal 2 hour nap they are really grumpy at bedtime (which they've been pushing back since we transferred them to their toddler beds), but they fall asleep faster.
They nap from 12-2 normally, and we usually start our BT routine at 7.30 and they are asleep by 9. BT routine is 30 min bath, then diaper change, jammies, let them run around the room a dozen times or so, then animal noises (with the light dimmed), prayers, songs and cuddles (which is like another 30 minutes or so) then we lay them in their beds and sit on the floor by their beds so they don't climb out. After about 30 minutes we leave. And the we are left with an hour to wash dishes, fold laundry, and pick up toys before we have to go to bed ourselves.
