4 month old naps and night sleep
« on: November 17, 2016, 08:56:40 am »
Has anyone found their lo night sleep effected by 'good' naps?
My DD has done a couple of perfect nap days for a 4 month old but I've found that when it happens she seems to be in really light sleep from about 4.30am and doesn't sleep as well through the night.
Most days my 3 year old is around which means we can't stay home all day to allow two 1.5-2hr cot naps so in those days dd2 has short cap naps on the go but seems to have better nights.

Has anyone found this? Dd2 seems to cope fine with either type of day so I'm not overly bothered.  Dd1 never napped well in the day so this is a new thing for me!

My DD2 has always been like this and needs lower than the average guidelines.

Night sleep is more restorative so if the longer naps are resulting in not such a good night I would trim the total day sleep back a little to find that good balance.

Thanks for the response.  We've been out and about today so she's only had snippets of sleep and went to bed this evening much calmer and appears to be more deeply sleeping.

I suppose I shouldn't moan as she can do good daytime naps but nighttime is more restorative for us all ;)
