Baby wakes up at 4am
« on: November 26, 2016, 13:00:38 pm »
8 month old keep wakes up around 4am or 5am for a week and won't go back to sleep. I've been trying to put him back to sleep and it takes over an hour. and he wakes up around 6 or 6:30. Ive been trying to change his naps back and fourth from 3 to 2 cuz i thought maybe he needs less daytime nap but he still wakes up early in the morning and wont sleep.

When 3 naps
Wakes up around 6
E 6 breastfeed
A6:30-9
S9-10
E10 breastfeed and solid
A10:30-1
S 1-2
E2breastfeeds
A2:30-4
S4-4:30 catnap
E4:30 breastfeed and solids
A
Bedroutine at 6:30
S 7 breastfeed before sleep but put him in his crib drowsy

When 2 naps
Its same but no catnap

I need some advice please!!!!

Thank you

Hi

At 8mo most LOs are well into 2 naps so your shorter naps and EW is likely from an early-ish first nap and late CN.

I think I'd try pushing A times to around 3.5hrs so starting that first nap later and see if you get a longer one, then  A time 3-3.5hrs again again before 2nd nap and see if you can get to 2 naps of around 1.5-2hrs, no 3rd CN.

He might be wanting it because of waking so early and having 2 naps of only 1hr before hand, but he might be making up for those things so perpetuating the EW. if you could push even 1 of those A times and & get even get 1 of those naps longer I think you might see a later start to your day.

So i dropped his CN and he took 2 naps.
And 6wake up (he is not waking up at 4am now but waking up at 5:30ish I tried to keep him in his crib til 6 if his not crying) 😥😥😥
9:30 1st nap (1hr)
1:30 2nd nap(  only 30min for 2 days)
6:30 bedroutine
7:00 bedtime

Should I keep this schedule?

Sometimes it can take a couple of days for routine to settle but that much crying at 5.30 might now be overtired (OT) from short 2nd nap and long time until bed.

I think I'd play around with the timing of 2nd nap and see if you can get a longer one e.g. Try a 15-30mins earlier or later and hold that for a few days & see if you can get a longer 2nd nap

If you get only 30mins, try doing an earlier BT to compensate
