Back 2 5am wake ups
« on: January 16, 2017, 05:33:03 am »
Hi me again so my son has just gone one he use to wake at 5am and I manahthink d to get him sleeping til 6am or nearer 6 so 5.45 but now he's back to waking at 5am sometimes even slightly earlier 4.50am seriously hate getting up at these times it also disturbs my 2 year old and he won't go back to sleep so spends a day over tired and there for moaning and being a terror
Now Cruz does go to bed early at 6pm which Ino most people will say that's the reason he wakes up early now I totally get that because he's doing 11 hours but when I managed to get him to sleep longer I didn't change that he still went at 6pm I just started leaving him to babbble when he woke up and he started just sleeping that doesn't work now he's so loud
Now and cries and shouts .. all I want is a 6am wake up time that's stil early but Ino I can't expect anything later
I have tried a later bedtime that didn't make a difference before he would stil wake me u early and therefor be getting even less sleep

He has recently started sleeping thru the night most nights but before he would only have a quick 1/2oz and right back or so that couldn't be taking much of his sleep

How can I get him to sleep til 6am ?

His routine is normally like this

Sunday 15th January 💙 slept thru
Heard stirring in night didn't go in tho
5.09am - woke up wouldn't go bk of
5.20am - up
9.10am - 10.45am woke him up
2.30pm - 3.05pm - woke him
5.50pm - 7oz
6pm - bed straight of

Monday 16th January 💙 slept thru
5am - woke up

Even 5.30am would be better than 5am
When he wakes at 5am it's a battle to keep him awake on the school run I. Practically have to run home where as when he was sleeping till 6 he manages just fine
Should I just accept 5am it makes my days so long
But with bedtimes my toddler normally goes around 6.30 he's always so tired and I have a 4 year old that goes at 7.30
It's a vicious circle of early wake ups mean early bedtimes
Obv I no he's doing 11 hour nights so really could to 7pm - 6am but that really doesn't fit in so could go 6.30-5.30 which is better but like I said I've tried before and made no difference x
Sorry for babbling on it's just so crap being up at 5am x
It seems there isn't enough hours in the day for his naps either he still needs two but with such long wake times it's hard. X

Hi I feel for you as I'm going through similar with my dd2.

I think the real problem is as you say he's getting 11hours of night sleep which is probably all he needs. The only way to get a later wake up is to push the whole day forward so naps/meals and BT.  You might want to try set times for naps and BT. Once LO get to 1yr they respond really well to this and sets their body clocks fairly quickly.

He's also in the 2-1 so if you're struggling to fit both naps in it's probably time to start shortening one of them and then the other one will hopefully lengthen x

Thanks Hun I could cry this morning
So we've gone from sleeping 6-6 to 6-5 and then Tosay 6-4 head is pounding an I am so tired it's unreal over a hour a lay next to his cot to try and get him back to sleep eventually I lay him in our bed around half 5 he did doze of in the end but he never ever sleeps with us and not something I want to start I'm at my wits end my 2 year old is now up so I can't even get any sleep and I'm waking Cruz at half 6 because otherwise it will throw all my day of

I just don't no what to do should I stick with normal nap time today he wil be really tired so I go with set naps now
So if wake time is 6am and he has a long am nap and short on nap what times should I do and vice Versa short am and long pm
And for a 6am wake up should he be going to be at 7?
I'd even be happy at 5.30 am one thing I do No is I can't cope wv 4am how is that a time to get up :(

Monday 16th January 💙 slept thru
5am - woke up 7oz
8.50am - 10.10 nap (1hour 20)
1.55pm - 2.50 woke him (50mins)
6pm - 7 oz
6.10pm bed - cried for a lil bit didn't go up
Unsettled keeps crying

Tuesday 17th January ❤️

The earlier waking could mean he needs a longer first A time and maybe that 2nd nap cutting back a bit so if it were me Id try something like

Wu 6
Nap 10.30 (earliest) - 12
Nap 4-4.30
BT 7

wdyt?
