13 mo night wakings
« on: December 31, 2016, 06:35:29 am »
Hi, I have issues with my baby girl's sleep again.
I still Bf and I find it hard to console her when she wakes during the night.
Her Easy is approximately
6.30 eu and bf
8 breakfast
10 nap, sometimes lately she won't sleep at all
12 lunch
2 pm nap-length depends on how much she slept in the morning
4 pm snack
6.30 dinner
8 bedtime

Lately she started waking around 1 am and my husband would pick her up to calm her down.
Then she'd wake again around 5.30 but it started getting earlier and earlier. I bF and she drifts back to sleep, sometimes until 7.30.
How can I overcome her wakings and do I need to start giving her milk immediately followed by breakfast. This morning she was fussy but I managed to feed her milk and breakfast at 7.
Tried to wait when she wakes at night to let her go back to sleep but she keeps wheeling so I finally gave up and picked her up 3 times.
Thanks,
Kat

Hi there - there are a few things that could be going pn really - growth spurt, regression and more than likely needs a tweak to her day time routine. By 12 months some Los are ready for 1 nap - you are trying to put here down for a nap after 2.5 hours A time which seems early. I would certainly push that back and see how you go. You will probably want to get 1 good nap and then a catnap until she drops with catnap.

Chronological EASY samples, 13+ months

From 2 to 1 nap transition (10-12m and older)

Hope this helps?

Hi I think that first nap needs to be a little later as it might not be helping the EW.

If she doesn't take that first nap do you still wait until 2 to put her down?

Ideally at this age you want 2 long nap 1 short CN some people choose a small morning nap at say 10pm for 30 mins then long nap say 2pm until 3.30pm. Or some do long am nap at this age I'd say 10.30 for 1.5/2 hours then CN 3.30 for 20/30 mins to just keep going until Bt.
I'd prob feed at 5.30 if it gets her back to sleep to give you a decent WU time and then give breakfast when you get up followed by milk in a cup.

Any teeth coming through?

Thanks Ladies,

I do try to push her am nap later and as i said  sometimes she won't am nap at all so I leave he with only one pm napr. I don't see a difference in her night wakings though whether she napped well or not.
It might be theething.

Cheers

You could just try doing a set nap at say 12pm see if she can get into that lunchtime nap x
