Dummy becoming a prop! Help!
« on: February 01, 2017, 09:51:34 am »
Hello all,

I wanted to see if anyone had any advice. Things are getting worse in our house and not sure what to do next!
Our 11 week LO has used a dummy on and off since birth. He seems to be a sucky baby and it calms him before a nap or we also use it in pram when he wakes after 30mins. Sometimes he keeps it in, sometimes he cant so it becomes a game of popping in and out!
We try not to use it at night as he can't keep it in when tired but when he wakes up after 45mins  at nightI know he is wanting to suck. He's taking less at feeds sometimes during night as think hes using it as a dummy. when I cradle him when he wakes I sometimes pop it in for a few seconds like it says in tracey's book then remove it however I think its making things worse as he then wakes up wanting it agin!!

Should I just go cold turkey and remove it all together from days and nights?
Last night I tried shh pat when he woke but he went mad arching and screaming. I resorted to dummy and he calmed immediately! I then took it out and let him settle but then he wakes when I put him in Cot! If I let him sleep on me he's ok!!!
It has defintaely become a prop any tips where to start?? Shall I leave it until he's abit older and just put up with the horrendous nights? Shall I just use it for day time naps?
Hope some one can help with advice as really struggling this week with dummy issues, feeding issues, short naps in cot and night wakings!!

Sorry you didn't get any replies to this post.
I think you have some support on a more recent post now, do you still need advice here or are you okay with continuing on your other thread?
