Help with 7 month old routine
« on: February 20, 2017, 10:14:46 am »
Hello there

I need some help with sorting out a daily pattern for my daughter. It’s all been a bit rubbish since she dropped her third nap, but was okish to begin with, now it’s quite unpredictable. She has also started waking in the early evenings which would previously only happen occasionally. Then around 4-5 hours after her bedtime feed, when she was usually going to 4 or 5 am and sometimes 11 hours. I am treating this as hunger as I’ve tried not feeding and been very unsuccessful!

Yesterday went like this:

E 5.30
S 6.15
AE 6.50
S 9.30 – 10.40
E 11.00
S 1.40 – 2.25
A
E 3.00
A
E 6.10
S 7.10
NW 11.15 E

Woke this morning at 6.45am which is great as generally have early wakings around 5.30. She went to sleep for her first nap at 9.50. I wanted it to be slightly earlier but we had a workman round who talked a lot!

She usually goes to sleep independently for naps and at BT unless very OT and worked up which happened yesterday. At bedtime she couldn’t settle, which is unusual. Shushpat didn’t work, but usually does. So I fed her to sleep.

I have been writing it down the last few days as well:

Saturday

A 6.20
E 6.30
S 9.25 – 10.50
E 11.00
S 2.15-2.40
E 3.00
A
E 6.00
S 6.15
NW 8.05 settled with shushpat
NW 11.15 E fed both sides

Friday

A 5.30
E 5.45
S 6.00
A 6.45
S 9.30 – 10.20
A
E 11.00
S 1.10-2.30
A
E 3.00
E 6.00
S 6.15
NW 7.00 settled with shushpat
NW 8.00 ditto
NW 1.00 E fed both sides

Thursday

A 6.15 happy
E 6.40
S 6.50-7.05
A
S 9.15-10.35
E 11.10
S 1.35-2.10
E 2.50
E 6.00
S 6.20
NW 10.30

The short nap happed the day before as well, I did settle her with shushpat but she only slept a few minutes more.

Her longest nap is usually only 1hr 20 mins sometime 1hr 40, weve never had longer than that! Any chance of a nice 2hour nap?? I’m sure the late stretch in the afternoon is not helping, but her morning naps have got shorter so the afternoon nap is earlier and sometimes crazy short. I would like the day to go from 7-7 but also I have to work the 2 naps and A time between 9.10am and 3pm  (or earlier to fit in an afternoon feed) due to the school run.

Also, we have started solids and she will eat a lot but cut right back because she was getting constipated and she was feeding less at BT. So she’s having a small breakfast and lunch, no dinner. I wonder if she needs more to keep her going through the long A time and nap? I have lots of questions about solids, breastfeeding and formula but will do that on another board.

When is it typical for LOs to be ok with a 4 hour A time?

Any suggestions appreciated!
 :)

Hi there and welcome to BW forums :)
Lovely to have you here.

I see that you are getting some support on naps and routine on your Night Waking thread, often issues cross over, naps effect nights and so on.
It will be more helpful for you if all your advice on naps/nights is on one thread, so you don't have to keep typing out your EASY and can make best use of your Y time so I will lock this thread and let FPT/fabi continue on your other thread. Okay?

Please do feel free to post to the other boards too though.
