Thank you. I have been wondering about this. I have been aiming for a 4.5/4.75 A time in the morning but I am thinking  about doing a set nap at 12.30 (this works well for me as I get home from picking my daughter up from pre school just before that).
If we have a night where she had a long NW would you still do the same nap time?

I generally try to keep the same nap time, it helps to regulate them and if you keep the same time it might actually help her nights.  I think you are in kind of a UT/OT situation, so UT for the nap so it's not overly long/restorative, and then OT by the end of the day because nap wasn't long enough.  If she has a bad night and absolutely can't make it to 12:30, I'd just try for a 15min CN in the morning...in the car or something.

Today we have had a 55 minute nap  ???
As it happens, this morning she woke at 6.15 but I fell back to sleep and when I woke later she was drifting off again so I let her sleep. So her nap today has been very late so she will make it to bed ok now on that short nap anyway. All of our house are on easter holidays hence the lie ins so I guess she's making the most of it too. I will go with the flow a bit as her overall sleep is still ok even with the short naps. But, next week when we have to get back into earlier wake ups, she will need longer! Are the 55 / hour naps still UT do you think?

Last night she fell asleep at 7 then
Woke 6.15
Back to sleep 7.42-8.35 I woke her up
1.37-2.30

Had a NW every other night this week so far. I am trying to push the nap later and today she managed 2 hours 40 minutes. I had to wake her up in the end as it was 3.30 and didn't want bedtime to be horrendous!! Going to keep trying with later naps and shorter afternoons for a week or so and see if that helps

Hello
So things are going much better at the moment touch wood! I am doing a set nap time (within 30 minute s anyway) so between 12.30 and 1. Naps are lasting 2-2.5 hours  :o However, this leads me to my next question...should I be waking her at any point or just let her sleep? Some days when I have to pick up my eldest I have to wake her at 2.45 anyway, but on the other days would you wake her at say 3? We do aim for a 7/7.30 bedtime

I don't wake my DD at all, unless a nap is lasting past 4pm or longer than 3hrs - those 2 things I believe would end up messing with BT and night sleep.  I'd just let her sleep as along as she needs, and if it starts to interfere with BT or nights then work on capping, but usually when LOs first drop to 1 nap they'll do a good long nap for a while before it starts affecting much.

Yes it didn't take long for my DD to need a much longer A time in the morning - we've been set at a 1pm nap since about 14 months :)

Can I have some more ideas please. We just can't seem to get a good routine going. One day she does one thing and the next day it's completely different.

25/04
7.19
1.14-3.19 woke up
7.14
Don't know if awake in night but did cry out

26/04
6.10
1?-2.12
6.28
Awake 4.30-5.25?

27/04
7.15
12.44-2.55
7?
Cried at 10.30 and awake for a little. Cried at 1 and 2 but think stayed asleep

28/04
6.05
12.32-1.54 stirred and cried out but didn't really wake
2.05?-2.43
7.05

Don't think cried in night

29/04
5.45
6.50-

We've started to have some earlier wake ups. It seems that if she wakes before about 6.15 she is still tired and could go back to sleep. I try not to get her up until 7 as that's when my eldest gro clock goes yellow. So today she went back to sleep at 6.50. It's 8.30 and she's still asleep and i mean a proper deep sleep. Her door is open and we're all up and making noise but she's stlll asleep. I'm probably going to really regret this later but I'm stuck on when I should let her sleep. Clearly she's still tired but I don't want to get a habit of waking early then going back to sleep. We're still getting NW here and there too. There seems to be no consistency in our routine and it's stressing me out.

So she eventually woke up at 8.30. She then napped 1.50-3.10 and was asleep at 7.20. I'm not even hearing her in the night anymore when she wakes but my husband said he heard her chatting at some point and she's normally awake for at least an hour when she does wake. So because I'm not hearing her wake in the night anymore I'm not sure when she is sttn and therefore unsure of what is and isn't working in our routine.
