Routine check 22 month old
« on: April 27, 2017, 05:29:28 am »
Hi,

I was looking for a routine check if possible as I'm getting shortnnight due to late bedtime and early wake up.

The routine was:

Wu: around 6.45
Nap: 12.30/1 - and woken by 14.30
Bt: 7.30 falling asleep around 8

However she is often messing around at nap time and now crying again at bedtime and won't ss.

Recently the routine has been messed up looking more like

Wu: 6.15/6.30
Nap: some days she won't nap until 1.30-14.45 (woken by me)
Bt: 7.45 sleep 8.15/8.30

8.30-6.15 is a rather short night. The routine about seems like a loooong day on that nap.  I know from when the routine works she likes about 12-12.5 hours a day.

Any ideas? Thanks very much
Xx

Hi - I would suggest cutting the nap as it seems to robbing some night sleep. I would push it back by 15 mins but keep the WU the same with Olly o that the 2nd A time was always the same. HTH x

Thanks I'll give it a try.
It's always a bit nervy cutting day sleep in case it makes it all worse but I do think if I want to keep to a 7/8 bedtime I'm going to have to as she is just too awake! xx

At 22 months old you are approaching nap dropping so you are going to have prepare yourself for it!! You will find that it probably helps  :)

And you can always add it back on if you find that a bit of OT starts to creep in x

I honestly can't wait until the nap is gone!

She wouldn't go down at 1pm.

Fell asleep at 1.30 so if I do 1.30-2.30 nap, what bedtime do you think? Still usual bt of 7.30 and asleep for 8? Or a little earlier?
Xx

Yes you could bring BT ahead a bit if she looks like she needs it x

My lg has absolutely no tired signs.... 22 months and we still haven't a clue when she is tired. She'd just keep going and going and going.

The only way I know I've not judged it well is if she won't ss as it usually means she is ot. It's always a guessing game with us  :D

We are still struggling a bit with crying at bed and won't self settle and/ or really fighting the nap during the day.

Last few days have been:
Today: wu: 7.15
S: 12.55-14.10
Bt: 7.05, crying instantly when put down, I stood at door way and she doesn't cry and dropped off at: 7.35

Yesterday:
Wu: 7.30
S: 12.50 - 14.15
Bt: 7.30 crying wouldn't ss, stood at door, asleep 8.15, short nw at 00.45 for dummy

Wu: 7
S: 2.05-15.30 (woken at 3.30, wouldn't go down earlier)
Bt: 8.05, did ss and sleep by 8.15

I don't see how some days are ok and others are filled with tears!

You are getting some good WU times there! With the longer nights she could be not needing a nap till nearer 1-1.30pm now? Her first A time seems to be pushing 7 hours now! I can't lay my hands on any FAQs with typical A times for a 22 month old right now but you need to go with her cues at the moment as she seems to be a in a transition. You are doing the right thing standing by her door at BT. I know it is a drag, we have all been there, but letting her sort her self out with you right near by giving her reassurance is the right thing to do xx

Oh no! A wake up of 5.15, so it was only 7.30-5.15 for nights sleep 😢

Ha she had 20 mins!!  :o
She fell asleep in the car and I tried to transfer her to her pram but she had a coughing fit so she woke and that was her sleep over in her opinion lol 🙈
