Bedtime resistance 2.5yr old
« on: June 11, 2017, 18:49:53 pm »
Hi there

My 2.5yr old is resisting bedtime and has been for some weeks now. He messes about before bed delaying things, and can take up to 1 hour to settle once we've left him. He's not teething. His routine is like this:

Wakes between 6-7am
Nap 12-12.30 until 13.30 (we've been capping his nap at 13.30 for a few weeks)
Bedtime 7 (asleep by around 8)

Do you think he's over / under tired? Do we need to start thinking of cutting his nap? Is he getting enough nighttime sleep (10 hrs). He goes down for his nap really well at home and is asleep within a few minutes, and he goes to nursery a few days a week and will often only nap for 40 minutes to 1 hour max.

Thanks

Hi I'd say prob UT, lots get to 13 hour days with a nap at this age so I'd go with pushing BT a little later until the nap is gone or cutting the nap more if you want a 7pm BT.

With my DS1 at this age we had pretty much dropped his nap but he went to a 20 min CN before dropping then having a 6.30am-7pm bt with no nap it was 6.30bt for a while.
