5.5 month old transitioning and waking
« on: August 08, 2017, 20:30:18 pm »
Hi!

My 5.5 month old recently transitioned to the crib from my bed. We started some solo sleeping in the bed, then moved to the swing, and then now she sleeps in the crib quite happily. For awhile, anyhow!

Our schedule (breastfeeding on demand many times a day, solids started 1-2 a day as I am returning to work in a couple weeks):

630-7am - awake
830 - first nap x45 mins
noon - second nap 45-90 mins
4pm - third nap x45 mins-60mins
7pm - goes down easily
1am-2am - awake, goes back easily after quick bf
3am - awake, happy but more awake
5am- awake and hard to get back to sleep

Her naps are still a little variable in length. She's a chunky monkey at 17#, she has reflux but is on meds, and she is fussier when we forget a dose. She gets her meds at 7pm. Maybe she needs a second dose (doc said she could have one?) But I was hoping she wouldn't need them much longer as she is almost 6 months.

I'd like to extend her sleep periods in the second half of the night. Suggestions? She is currently in a sleep sack. She seems to go back to sleep easily after comforting and feeding but can't get herself calmed down after she wakes up.

Thanks!

Hi there, it could be she's getting ready to move to 2 naps, so could start pushing the first one out a bit.

What meds is she on? It's quite common for reflux babies to need meds longer than 6 months and often they can get acid dump in the early hours or the morning.

My DS2 wasn't med free until 10/11 months x

Hello, Agree with Zoe that maybe you could push out the first A time a bit and look to get 2 longer naps and then a quick CN n at the end of the day.

Does she self settle when you put her down or are you sleep training?

Here are some sample EASYs if this helps?
