6 month old transition to 2 naps - when do i feed?
« on: August 25, 2017, 21:43:54 pm »
Hi,
Do you have any ideas about a schedule for a 6 month old taking 2 naps? I breastfeed and she
recently has started solids. we start the day at 7am and her bedtime is between 7/7.30

I was doing the 4hour schedule with 2 naps and a 3rd catnap in the late afternoon but now
i'm completely confused as to what to do.

Thanks!

Hi BonnieJade,

Here is a link to sample schedules.  Scroll to the bottom to see ones for 6mo.

Our routine was all over the place at this stage so I can't be much personal help.
You can also try googling "6mo routine baby whisperer forum" for threads regarding this stage. Don't forget to add the "baby whisperer forum" in your search... it should show many hits from the history of bw.

=)

With DS1 we typically did
8.00 WU & BF
9.00 solids with a sippy of water
A 2hr 45
10.45-12.45 nap 2hrs
12.45 BF
2.00 solids (we added this meal after a few weeks of starting solids)
A 2hr45
3.30-5.30 nap 2hr
5.30 BF
A 2hr 30 (or a touch more if naps weren't quite the 2hrs)
7.45 BF
8.00 BT

We added a 3rd meal around 6.3pm at 7-8mo as naps got a tad shorter and were more like 1.5hrs each and so the last A time was a bit longer. DS1 always ate best earlier in the day.

With DS2, he ate less at the first solid meal so I gave him a BF before the naps as well.

As a guide just add solids an hour after BFs and either feed on wake up or before the nap if LO wouldn't make it into after the nap.
