Biting... Ouch
« on: August 30, 2017, 21:12:03 pm »
My LO 10.5 months old and in a constant state of teething has started to bite while feeding.

It is not a quick sharp bite, but a slow starting clench. Since it is not an abrupt action with a direct reaction from myself, I am finding it hard to communicate to my LO that it is wrong.

Any suggestions??

I pull their nose into the breast so they have to release to uncover the nose and say "Ow, that hurts mummy". Then I take them away for a moment.

Keep an eye on how the latch changes. A baby had to cover the bottom teeth with their tongue to suckle so they have to change that latch to bite.  As soon as that happens I'd tasks them off and ask if they've finished.
