13 mo I think it's the 2-1 but I can't seem to get anything right!
« on: September 14, 2017, 00:28:33 am »
So I think my 13 mo boy is in the 2-1 transition. Right now his naps are ALL OVER the place! Here is a "typical" days sleep- but please note sometimes it's wayyyyyy different to this:

6am wu (this used to be 6:30-6:45 and I'm desperate to get it back!!)
7am breakfast
11:30-12:15 nap
1pm lunch
3:30-4pm nap
6:30pm dinner
7:15pm bed

OR sometimes it's like this

6am wu
7am breakfast
12:15-1:15pm (usually it is shorter, like 45-50 mins  >:( )
1:30pm lunch
6:30pm dinner
7:00-7:15 bed

He is fully weaned now and sleeps through (unless sick). He also has plenty of snacks during the day.

I'm concerned he's not getting enough sleep, but I've tried earlier bedtimes (6:45) and it doesn't make him sleep anymore during the night.

Not sure if this is relevant but usually takes him around 15-20 mins to fall asleep at night.

Thanks!!

Is he fighting the naps or why are they at different times and why is the pm nap skipped?

6:45 isn't an early enough BT to try to see if he'll tack on... you'll probably need to do a 6:00 or 6:15pm bedtime on days he wakes at 6am, and finishes nap before 1:15pm. So a 12hr day with one nap. What was his usual overnight sleep? 7:00pm-6:30am?

Hi! Thanks for the reply. He refuses the PM nap on those 1 nap occasions...

Sometimes I put him down later because he still seems really awake in the mornings.

He's pretty persistent about sleeping no more than 10.5-11 hrs at night, would a 6:15pm bedtime make things worse with waking early??  ???

It shouldn't if it's for no more than 2days. After that you can start shifting the scheudle. Around that time we implemented EBT once or twice a week to help him get caught up and/or avoid OT. My DS almost never tacked on sleep but going to bed earlier helped him get good rest. Next day, we'd do two naps or so and repeat untiltine passed and he could handle longer A times. And some kids do. Eautifully with tacking on sleep.
