« on: October 28, 2017, 05:10:53 am »
My child is one week old. Intitially he was not able to latch on me. But now as he started he started biting me. My nipples are totally sore. Please advice some solution.

Wow I've not heard of a child biting at 1wo.  Have you had him checked for tongue tie or lip tie that might be preventing him covering his lower gums with his tongue?

Look up the flipple technique to make sure he is getting a good mouthful of the breast.

I'd also get your positioning checked by a qualified lactation consultant.

It can certainly feel like biting when the latch is not quite right, often when its a bit shallow.
Things you can do:
Use some nipple cream like lansinoh after feeds.
Hand express a bit before a feed to soften the breast a bit so LO has a better chance at getting enough breast into his mouth.
Definitely get a lactation consultant to help.

At one week old OT won't be biting, but as PP have said a poor latch, so definitely try to see a lactation consultant because milk won't be stimulated properly either with a poor latch, so he will want to feed more and it will hurt more and be a vicious cycle
