One breast oversupply
« on: January 24, 2018, 12:37:03 pm »
Hi ladies,

My right breast seems overly full.  My lo is never able to drain it.  I alternate breasts per feed.  I have avoided any expressing etc. So not sure what causes this.  I thought it was a supply meets demand scenario.   I was hoping it would settle but doesn't seem to change.

Lo definitely struggles on the right side.  I have noticed also that some nappies are greenish while some are perfect orange.  I would wonder if that is the effect of an imbalance when drinking off right.

Will this sort itself out?  Or should I be doing something to try and help!???

Thanks.

You can try 2x feeds on the left then 1x on the right till things settle. If you are uncomfortable on that side try putting refrigerated cabbage leaves in your bra on your right side

Thanks for that,  was thinking re the cabbage leaves today.  If I feed X2 on the engorged side will that not tell my body to produce more??

I was hoping it would settle after 48hrs, but no joy there.  Will try the X2, how long should I do it for.

Thanks.

No. No, do two feeds on the normal side and one on the engorged. So feed on the engorged every 3rd time to keep it full and hopefully slow down production

Quick question.   How long should I do the above??  And what kind of time line do you think it should take to settle.  I have my cabbage leaves at the ready!!

Lol cabbage leaves are a lifesaver!
With me it took 2 days of block feeding for things to settle but everyone is different. Just keep watching for blockages and a express a bit from it if it gets too painful.
