Sleep issues
« on: March 01, 2018, 09:05:27 am »
My son is 4.5 months old. I’m facing lot of sleep issues. He doesn’t sleep in the night properly.
In the morning after bath he sleeps for 2 hours and after that he doesn’t have any fix nap time. He just sleeps whenever he is cranky but not for more that half hour and in the night also he wakes up after every hour, I nurse him then again he sleeps. And yes he co sleeps with me. Please suggest a proper routine so that he gets a better sleep in the night specially.

Hi :)

Are you looking to stop co-sleeping then?  People have different ideas of what "better sleep at night" means so it would be useful to know what your goal is. Did you want to start putting him in a cot for night sleep?  And what about for naps?

I already have a cot but he is not ready to asleep in it. I want some guidance on how to set his routine, how long he should take his nap, when should he take it, how to make him sleep properly I. The night.

OK, well I'm afraid I don't have any suggestions for making him sleep properly at night if you are co-sleeping. Co-sleeping is not one of the BW methods and is not recommended as safe in the SIDS guidance so for those two reasons I never co-slept and have no experience of it.

There are example routines here for babies of different ages:
https://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=164253.0
but you will see in the examples each LO is different and has a slightly different routine. The BW methods are not a "set" routine which is what you are asking for.  Each LO has a routine adjusted to their individual needs.
As a guide at 4.5 months the A time would be about 2hrs:

And LO would have two long naps of 1.5 or 2hrs and a CN of around 40 min

Usually LOs drop to 2 long naps at around 6 months.

hope that helps

Would he go in the cot at any point?
I have a 14wo and what we do is put her down asleep  (deeply asleep) in the crib at bedtime and then she co-sleeps only from the first night feed onwards because I always fall asleep feeding her. Just make sure you are co-sleeping safely

Creations has given you some good advice re what you can expect re routine but of course all babies are different so your baby may have his own natural rhythm.  Use the routines as a guide only.
