What are your babies sleep cues?
« on: March 26, 2018, 22:05:12 pm »
I'm pretty sure I have a spirited baby based on the description in the book.
I was wondering what are some of the sleep cues other people have used beside the yawn.
I'm beginning to think when she yawns it's too late because she gets really fidgety and hard to settle when we try to swaddle her etc
She really hates the swaddle and fights once it's done so we have to calm her again
I'm wondering if I'm bringing her up too late, maybe there's something else I can look for to start the process when she doesn't fight as much

I also think I'm starting too late because she sleeps for 20 mins then wakes up...and then the cycle continues b/c she's over tired by then

Hi, I'm sorry you haven't had any replies before now.  I also found by the time the yawns started it was too late.  Sometimes when LOs are getting tired the cues can be quite subtle - staring, slightly 'jerkier' or excited movements, eye rubbing etc.  If you note the point at which she usually yawns then keep a close eye from 10-15 mins before that and perhaps see what you notice?  How old is your LO?
