14 mom very early waking
« on: April 08, 2018, 11:31:52 am »
14 mo is waking between 4:45-5:20 every day. He goes down well and settels on his own for naps and night. He still seems to need 2 day naps though they are short. (10-11,  2-3) bed time is at 8.  My husband leaves for work at 6:15 so I dont think I can get much beyond the garage door opening but 4:45 is crazy.  He is getting less than 12 hours sleep in each 24. Crazy!

I do keep him in bed until 6:15 and he will settle on and off but not go back to sleep.

Hi there I’d say his day needs a tweak, I’d cap that first nap and do it 9.30 for 30 mins then offer longer nap at 12.30pm and keep the day to 13 hours max.

I know you say EBT causes waking but is he easily settled at 1am then might sleep better/later after resettle!?

How long would you let the second nap go?

So... Wake up started at 4:30, but resettled at 4:30 and 5:30. Up for the day at 6:20. Nap at 9:15-9:45 and nap from 12:30-2:00. Bed time at 7:15? What are you thinking is causing the ew? To late of an afternoon nap?

Sometimes it can be that they need to be on 1 nap but can’t quite make it yet, a build of overtired from EW or just developmental stuff/teeth going on.

You can use the CN to get to a lunch nap better and just shave time off the CN until it’s easy to get to 12 for long nap x

It worked last night. I had to wake him up at 6:30. He even slept through the garage door. I hate to call it fixed in case it was a fluke, but... Yay!!!!

Ok, I may have made it worse for myself in the long run, but I have been giving him a cup of milk when he wakes and he goes back to sleep and yesterday he slept until 8am. I don't want to get in the habit of feeding back to sleep but if I can get him to sleep later then I can push the naps back.

What do you think?

It’s really up to you, just be wary of it becoming a habit.

Maybe just try a couple of days
