Time for routine tweek?
« on: April 10, 2018, 01:51:00 am »
My almost 21 month lo has been doing wake up around 7 nap 1230-230 asleep by 730 but he’s resisting his naps lately. Mostly it’s on days when big brother is home but lately he’s not falling asleep until 1 and only sleeping 1-1.5 hours instead of 2. When he wakes anytime after 230 he’s cranky and it actually takes him a while until he’s ready to get out of the crib not sure why. It also takes him about 30 mins to unwind in crib at night no matter what time he goes in. Tonight I tried a later bedtime of 730 and didn’t fall asleep until 8! I feel like Im always quick to change up his routine when things get wonky but sometimes it backfires.

Naptime was successful down at 1230 still asleep at 220 just like the good old days. Maybe the key is to get him up by 630 instead of letting him sleep until 7 or after. I just hate to wake a sleeping baby.

You could just let the nap be later, if he went at 1 and was up by 2.45 bt 8 on 7am wake up is good day!

That’s what I was thinking but after getting him down earlier at 1230 he slept longer plus my older one goes up for bed at 745 so that might not work. Going to give it some more time and see how nap time goes.

Seems like he’s extended his A time in the morning before nap. He’s usually up around 7 sometimes like today it’s 630 but even when I think he’s had a busy active morning and he was up early I’ll put him in crib around 1240 for nap and he’s not falling asleep until closer to 1! Some days he surprises me and passes out at 1230 but i can never tell. He’s the kind of child that likes and needs some down time alone in his crib before he falls asleep even at night. He’s always happy and quiet just rolls around A bit even chatting at times but never upset and calling for me.  He goes into his crib around 720 and is asleep by 745. The later he goes to sleep though the earlier he wakes in morning I find. Even with his new nap time he’s only doing 1.5 hrs sometimes less  1-2/130 wheee as when he did 1230 nap he slept 2 hours until 230. Is it typical for a 21 month to do 1.5 nap around this time of day and 10.5-11 hours at night ? He’s been super active lately maybe a growth spurt too!

I’d say 1.5 hour at 1pm is pretty normal for most....don’t forget the language spurts at this age can affect things but I think he sounds like he’s telling you what he needs x

I’m still in a jam though with moving for 4 weeks I’ll have to leave the house at 115 to pick up my older son by 130. Lo is napping from 1-230/3. How the heck will I do this ? Put him down when we get back at 145?! That will be so late for a nap!
