13mo LSN
« on: May 09, 2018, 13:04:49 pm »
Hi there and we are back. LO is now 13mos. Since he got sick at 12mos our schedule had been messed up. Good thing though is that his tired/sleepy cues had been reliable so I relied on that. Which meant PU from crib at 0715-0740 then nap varies from noon to 1400h, usually 2-2.5hr length. Bedtime from 1900-2000. The past 2-3 weeks he’s been waking up for about an hour overnight - 0230-0330 or 0300-0400 or 0530-0630, just quietly kicking or babbling then go back to sleep; I had to resettle twice in 2-3w. I thought perhaps developmental as he’s learning to walk, but this seems like a long stretch no? Or teething so I’ve been medicating but it doesn’t seem to help. The past 3 days though he’s been waking 0545-0600 and would not go back to sleep. He starts whining around 7 and so we try not to get him until 0700-0715h.

0700-0715 get from nursery
1315h WD
1330h S for 2-2.5hrs
1945 BT

I’ve tried EBT as early as 1845 but it would take him 30m-1.5h to sleep. He’s been sleeping 11-12h in 24hr period. When we first started doing 1 nap at 11mos-ish, he was getting 12.5-13.5h some days. Not quite sure what to do... push nap later? Encourage 2 naps? He’s only been doing 2 naps if we’re out in the morning, so maybe 2-3 times a week if at all.

TIA for any suggestions.

Hi there if he’s LSN then maybe nap needs to be limited to 1.5/2 hour max?

Sure. I can try cap at 2h for now, then do 1.5h if needed. Do you think his day should be 12h or it’s ok?

We did two naps yesterday - 35m then 2h and he slept 2015-0630 (crib by 1930h). Today, he was tired early so one nap 1240-1440.

Generally on a decent nap the day would be around 13 hours long but each LO is different of course x

The past three days he’s done a Capped am nap then long pm nap. Total day time sleep ~2.5h then about 11hrs at night. Looks like he’s doing better on two naps... better than when we were doing long then short...  He’s now waking after 7am so momma is happy!
maybe I rushed him to one nap. :(
So it’s best to continue this until he refuses his naps right? Or if he’s not sleepy in the morning, I’ll extend him to later/one nap.

Really? Even though he’s been on one nap most days (2 naps maybe 1-2x a week) since February?

It just worked for us, they all vary. If you think he’s ok on one nap then stick with it and ride it out. But it seems like 2 is helping a bit x
