It is still normal for a baby this age to need a NF or 2 overnight however, you may be 'rushing' in - going in to assist before she needs it. Listen to the cry - is it escalating or is she just trying to get back to sleep herself?
WRT having LO in your room vs. elsewhere - SIDS recommendation is to have baby in your room for the first 6 months, ideally 12 months as it reduces risk (as does not smoking, not drinking and not sleeping with your baby on a couch, etc. Its about finding a balance that works for your family. My son slept in his own room from 2 weeks of age (no space in our room for the cot) across the hall from our room.
