Started EASY routine but sleep time is only 20 minutes
« on: July 23, 2018, 09:39:39 am »
My baby is 7 weeks old and we have been following EASY since he was 6 weeks old. My problem is how to get past the 20 minute naps. Baby seems to prefer short naps as he appears to be an active baby and quite happy to play for approx 40 minutes after a 40 minute feeding time. Any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi, welcome to BW, sorry you've waited so long for a reply!

It sounds like your baby might be overtired and/or overstimulated. Sometimes if you watch closely, you may be able to see a transition from happy to "overhappy" - usually the squealing and huge smiles is a sign he is overwhelmed and needed to be asleep 5 mins ago, rather than truly being ready to be awake that long.

I think if you can try a short wind down routine after about 1hr 15mins from when he wakes, he may sleep a bit better.
