Six month old poor sleeper. Help!
« on: October 17, 2018, 08:21:48 am »
Hi I wondered if you could help. My six month old has been a poor sleeper since the four month regression. We have forty five min naps and multiple night wakenings and sometimes attempting to start the day at five! I've tried longer a times, shorter a times, two naps or three, leaving to settle and feeding and nothing helps. She is currently having three tastes of solids a day, including a decent bowl amount of porridge and fruit at six pm.she goes for naps and bedtime completely awake so can self settle.
I think we are in the 3-2 hell but can't see my way out. I can't get her to nap long enough to get to two naps without some major overtiredness.
I have a five Yr old too so school runs affect when I can put her to sleep.

An ideal day would be up at seven two naps and bedtime around seven I guess. But how I get it I don't know as I have tried so many things I'm not sure where to start. Thanks

At that age we would have had naps around 10 and 3 but does that clash with school runs? Is sleeping in the buggy or car an option?

How long has she been having solids? Sounds like she's having a large amount at a young age so do you think it could be digestive discomfort disturbing her?

This might help https://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=246541.0

How many night waking is she having? We'd expect a few at this age. Does feeding get her back down?

Thank you for your reply. Last two days since writing this she is suddenly more mobile and with an a time of three hours is now sleeping through the sleep cycle on her naps... Yesterday she napped nine til eleven and 1415-1545. With a seven pm bedtime but she was awake every two hours... Feeds do settle her but surely she can't need two hourly?!
Buggy naps on school run is doable but she will only do 30-40 mins in a buggy.

Any improvement? There is a big growth spurt at this age plus psychological leaps.

Hi yes there has been but now we are struggling with early wake ups. Day looks like this... Wake anytime from 0500 attempt to resettle with feeds, rocking generally anything but it doesn't work. Declare 0630 as morning.
 0730 breakfast
0900/0930 milk downstairs then nap for hr and half.
1145 lunch
1330 milk and nap an hr and half
1630 tea
1700 milk
1830 bath and bed. Usually down by seven.
Ideally I'd like a 0700 wake up but maybe I'm expecting too much? She has a tooth nearly through and has just learnt to sit

Last night woke at ten and three for night feeds but these are completely random. Sometimes I will stretch afternoon nap til two so she wakes 1545 ish but I have to collect my boy from school at four. She's been on two naps for a while now don't think she'd let me reintroduce the cat nap to get bedtime later
