Overtired wired and hyper

When my 2.5 year old misses his nap he gets out of control later in the day. He gets a second wind and a third and a fourth!! He literally will not sit down or still. He’s climbing running jumping like a nut it’s awful and exhausting. How early can we put him to bed on days like this? That’s also difficult too as he’s so wound up.

I wouldn't so much clock watch, but have a set ritual that you follow that indicates it's bedtime. If you can get that happening then you can put him to bed when ever it works, at 2.5yo some children will sleep 13/14 hours at night, some (like my DS2 only ever seemed to manage 10.5 maximum & so I had to often give him a bath at 3 or 4pm to calm him down to get him through to a decent bedtime otherwise he was up for the day at 4am.

With DS1 I’d often do an early bath also then a light tea afterwards he’d quite happily go to bed at 5.45pm when he was like that.

DS2 though could manage till a normal ish bedtime, like Katet said don’t clock watch as if he’s in the 1-0 transition it’s about winging it some days.
